INPUT/OUTPUT MODULES, FIELDBUS MODBUS

Descriptions:
The FBM Series are general purpose input/output modules for system integrators.

Available in several input/output configurations, the FBM Series modules provide convenient termination for field devices and interfacing to your HVAC, lighting, temperature sensors, and other typical building automation applications.

Each of the analog inputs can be jumper configured for signals of either 0-5V, 0-10V, 0-20mA, pulse, sensor or digital contact.

The outputs are available in potential-free contacts 0.5 resp. 1A/output, 0-10V, 0-20mA analog.

The modules are slave devices that can be easily controlled via the RS485 serial interface using the industry standard Modbus Protocol.

Features:

  • Surge-protected analog inputs with 10-bit resolution.

  • Outputs can individually be switched to ON, OFF, AUTO.

  • High impact plastic enclosure provides durability in commercial environments.

  • Standard modbus protocol allows for up to 254 unique devices on one RS485 network.

The FBM 16 is an Analog Input/Output Module with 8 Analog Input Channels & 8 Analog Output Channels on board.

The inputs can be configured to take 0-5V signals, 0-20mA signals,

Thermistor temperature sensors NTC 10K, or Digital Contact Closures.

The FBM converts any analog signals into a 10-bit value between 0-1024.

The FBM 16 can communicate with a higher level control system via Modbus485.

The units are also accessible over Ethernet by using the NWC Gateway, which communicates with up to 8 of the modules concurrently and exposes all of the input values & allows control of the outputs via HTTP, TCP, or ModbusTCP.

The FBM 21 Relay is an Analog Input & Relay Output Module with 8 Analog Input Channels & 13 Relay Output Channels on board.

The inputs can be configured to take 0-5V signals, 0-20mA signals, Thermistor temperature sensors NTC 10K, Digital Contact Closures, or high speed pulse inputs <100Hz.

The FBM 21 converts any analog signals into a 10-bit value between 0-1024.

The Relay Outputs are rated for 0.5A@ 30Vdc, 1A@125Vdc and can be used to control various types of On/Off devices.

Each Relay can be controlled through software or can be controlled at the device manually by using the built-in Hand/Off/Auto switches that are provided.

Indicator LEDs for the inputs and outputs provide a visual indication of the current status of each point.

The FBM 21 can communicate with a higher level control system via Modbus485.

The units are also accessible over Ethernet by using the NWC Gateway, which communicates with up to 8 of the modules concurrently and exposes all of the input values & allows control of the outputs via HTTP, TCP, or ModbusTCP

Descriptions:

The FBM 22 are general purpose input/output modules for building integrators.

Available in several input/output configurations, the FBM modules provide convenient termination for devices and interfacing to your HVAC, lighting, temperature sensors, and other typical building automation applications.

Each of the analog inputs can be jumper configured for signals of either 0-5V, 0-10V,
0-20mA, high speed pulse, on/off or sensor <500 Hz.

The outputs are available in on/off contacts 0.5/1A output, 0-10V analog.

  • Standard modbus protocol allows for up to 254 unique de- vices on one RS485 network.

The FBM 32 is an Analog Input Module with 32 Analog Input Channels on board.

The inputs can read 0-5V, 0-10V signals, Thermistor temperature sensors NTC 10K, or Digital Contact Closures in low speed switching applications.

The FBM 32 can also function to read 4-20mA inputs if a 250ohm resistor is placed across the input & ground.

The FBM 32 converts any analog signals into a 10-bit value between 0-1024.

The FBM 32 can communicate with a higher level control system via Modbus485.

The units are also accessible over Ethernet by using the NWC Gateway, which communicates with up to 8 of the modules concurrently and exposes all of the input values via HTTP, TCP, or ModbusTCP.

FBM Master Time Clock Diagram

  1. FBM module which is linked to the network with an RS485

  2. Start with address #2, so that address #1 is available for adding new MPC with default still at #1

  3. Standard RS485 cabling techniques, 18.20 gauge, twisted pairs +gnd, shield optional, max segments length is 1 km

  4. Rear view of MPC5-B or -A, both versions have the same wiring connections

  5. Use a network repeater to boost signals or isolate sections of the network, number of repaters is up to the designer

  6. Largest address on any segment is 254, add more segments for larger networks

  7. Timer Clock which can be set to turn ON/OFF automatically at desired time

Converter/Amplifier
There are two input ports which can be jumper selected for either RS232 for connection to a PC as a converter, or RS485 for bus repeater mode.

The isolated,half-duplex RS485 output port has two separate connectors to make dividing the network easy during troubleshooting.

The diagnostic LEDS show common wiring mistakes such as shorts & open circuits.

All protocols such as Bacnet, Modbus or generic RS485 protocols are supported since the device is a hardware only repeater, however some of the diagnostics such as bad CRC and Modbus error reporting are available only with Modbus at 19.2k or 9600 baud.

Input: RS-232 or RS485 (jumper selected)

Output: isolated RS485

Features:

  • RS485 diagnostic LEDs

  • Errors can be read back over Modbus

  • Supports any protocol, hardware based repeater

  • Isolated power supply and RS485 bus.

  • All connectors are pluggable

  • In-Circuit Serial Programming, source code available

  • Power: 12V-24V(AC/DC)
